What was once built as a 3-story parking garage for the Hilton Hotel in 1923 was transformed into McWhorter Tire Co. in 1942.

Ross and Pat McWhorter started selling tires in downtown Lubbock in 1942. Today, that parking garage is home office to one of West Texas' largest tire dealers and auto repair service centers.

McWhorter’s has expanded in the more than seventy years since its founding into multiple commercial and retail tire dealer centers and auto repair shops throughout Lubbock, Levelland and Midland.

In 1957, McWhorter’s opened in Levelland, TX. Over the years, the store changed ownership to Roy Reid Tire Co, before becoming McWhorter Tire & Auto in 2004.

The Levelland branch is the third oldest McWhorter’s location and is one of the oldest tire dealer and auto service shops in Hockley County. Today, the store serves Levelland drivers, commercial trucking and the farm & agricultural community.

McWhorter’s Truck & Farm on Slaton Highway was originally a Goodyear Tire & Service Center until 2012, when McWhorter’s purchased the location. As a Goodyear National Accounts Dealer, McWhorter’s provides commercial trucking fleet services. Our Slaton location stocks a full selection of commercial tires for tractors and trailers from all brands, including Goodyear, Michelin, Firestone, Bridgestone and many budget and foreign brands. An onsite tire warehouse of 300,000 square feet allows us to offer a vast selection that rivals all other dealers in West Texas.

McWhorter offers manual wheel alignments for 2- 3 axle steer suspensions. Our commercial service team have done it this way for decades and will find the optimum position for the best tire life, traction and fuel economy. We do use a computerized Bee Line machine for accurate trailer wheel alignments.

We are one of the few Truck Centers in Texas to handle tire trueing. For over twenty years, our team’s process and specialized equipment helps drivers achieve round tires through shaving of steer and drive tires.

Our mechanics will also repair hubs, wheels and balance tires using flashing strobes and spinners. We can also check your tire air pressure and adjust at no extra cost.

Comprehensive Commercial Tractor & Trailer Repair

McWhorter serves owner-operator fleets, independent truck drivers and national fleets. As an authorized Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service Center, McWhorter also supports Goodyear national accounts. Goodyear tires and most mechanical work carries an extensive nationwide warranty.

Whether you just need an oil change, tires or have seven critical issues, our diesel mechanics and service team will work hard to earn your business as a one stop truck stop. Manager Cory Buck, worked at a Penske Truck Leasing for eighteen years and has relationships with local body shops and all truck dealers in town. If you need warranty work or a new front end frame, our own team and network can handle any repairs from minor to major. We source OEM parts straight from the dealer.

Federal & Department of Transportation (DOT) Inspections

McWhorter’s Truck Center offers certified, DOT annual inspections, and we do more than twenty per day!

Our team also handles manual and automatic regeneration of DPF (Diesel Particulate Filters). EGR or (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) systems are also inspected and can be repaired by our team.

McWhorter Fixes All Commercial Vehicles & Trailers

McWhorter’s Truck Center in Midland, TX is a commercial tire dealer and branch of McWhorter’s LTD, which has served customers in West Texas since 1942.

The Midland shop opened in 2015 in a brand new, 12 engine bay facility. Led by Manager Brandon Webb, certified tire specialists handle truck tire sales and tire services during normal business hours. Emergency 24/7 service is available for commercial fleets.

Services include: tire mounting, repairs and patches, mobile tire service, tire rotation, wheel balancing and alignment. Retreads are handled off site at our authorized Goodyear retread center for Uni-Circle treads, although deliveries to Midland are frequent.
